Worship & Music Core Team Leader Job Description

  1. The Worship and Music Core Team shall develop a worship and music ministry that meet the needs of the congregation. This team shall be responsible for worship and music at regularly scheduled worship services, as well as special programs and worship experiences.
  2. Directly communicate with pastor concerning worship service schedules and the needs connected with the worship services.
  3. Obtain an organist schedule for our organist/pianists on a monthly basis.
  4. Working with office secretary selecting and purchasing bulletins for special worship services.
  5. Organize Ministry training workshops. Solicit volunteers to lead individual workshops on such worship ministries as ushers, communion care, acolytes, assisting ministers, nursery volunteers, greeters, etc. Set dates, publicize dates and times, and update ministry job descriptions. The worship Team Leader will utilize the Time and Talent sheets to secure help in maintaining the worship life of our congregation.
  6. Work with pastor and other interested volunteers in developing new worship services.
  7. Be open to utilize congregation members who have gifts in drama, instrumental and vocal music, etc, again utilizing Time and Talent sheets.
  8. Coordinate with other teams concerning special needs for worship services when milestones are celebrated, i.e. graduation, Affirmation of Baptism, etc. The purchase of cakes, flower, etc., should be divided between teams involved in the celebrations.
  9. Oversee such things as the printing of bulletins and other details pertaining to worship.
  10. Work with pastor and other volunteers to organize special worship celebrations, such as building groundbreaking, anniversary celebrations, Ordinations or installations of pastors, etc.
  11. Oversee the Alter Guild, making sure that worship supplies are ordered and in stock, such as candle oil and wicks. The Altar Guild will clean Holy Communion linens, change sanctuary banners when appropriate and ready the sanctuary for Sunday worship.
  12. It will be the core team leader’s responsibility to see that details are covered for each of our church seasons, such as decorating our Christmas Tree and sanctuary, purchasing Advent candles, setting up the Advent wreath, readying individual candles for the candlelight worship services, etc.
  13. The Core team leader is responsible for attending all core Team meetings (or sending a representative in case of emergency)
  14. The Core Team Leader should arrange a meeting of the worship/music team at least 3 times a year.
  15. Submit monthly reports to Church Council and other Core Team Leaders.
  16. Attending monthly Core Team Leaders meetings and providing input on current issues.
  17. Work in conjunction with a Church Council liaison.
  18. Plan budgets for the next calendar year and submit to Council Treasurer by October each year.
  19. Write and submit Annual Report to Church office by November each year.
