Stephen Ministry

This is a quiet yet powerful ministry at Feast. Every week, people experience the loving presence of Christ through visits with their Stephen Ministers. Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry that offers support during difficult times, such as divorce, grief and loss, depression, job loss, or any other time when a person needs a confidential and listening ear. Our Stephen Ministers are also trained to assist the pastor with hospital/home visitation and to offer Holy Communion in the homes of those receiving care.

Stephen Ministry is a Christian care‑giving ministry provided by trained lay members of the congregation. The purpose of the ministry is to walk with a person who is experiencing a significant time of need in their life. This journey is one of Christian companionship and support, a partner in the walk through the darkness, a partner to assist in finding and following Christ’s light.

The ministers receive an initial minimum of 50 hours of training. Once the training segment is completed, the ministers are commissioned into a minimum of two years of service. After commissioning, the Stephen Ministers are paired with care receivers. The ministers are then involved in mandatory peer supervision which takes place twice monthly and is focused on positive care giving as well as continued education.

This is a quiet ministry as the assignments are confidential. It is a blessing for the care receiver as well as the care givers. Folks who are interested in becoming a care giver or desiring the care of a Stephen Minister should contact Pastor Matt for further information.
