Our Purpose and Core Values

Our Purpose Passages

Matthew 11:28-30  “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Ephesians 4:11-13  “The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.”

Our Purpose Statement

Together we seek to use our spiritual gifts to build up the body of Christ.

The Core Ministry Values of our Congregation

Word and Sacrament

God has graced us abundantly through Christ’s cross and empty tomb. We believe God speaks to us most clearly through God’s Word and the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion. The faith relationship God has established with us is the foundation on which we build all core values for our ministry.

Gratitude and Hospitality

We believe our proper response to God’s grace is witnessed in our gratitude and hospitality. We are thankful for God’s blessings among us which include those in our midst. We seek to live our gratitude in relating to one another, our community, and the world. We show our gratitude through the hospitality of sharing our homes, our spiritual gifts, our talents, our service, our money and our relationships.

Growing God’s Kingdom

We value God’s church as the Body of Christ. We believe the relationships that are formed, the forgiveness that is given, the ministry that is accomplished, the classes that are taught all have eternal implications. The work we do at Feast of Victory is to be holy work with the goal being growing the kingdom of God rather than maintaining the institution.

Celebrating Diversity

We believe each individual to be a valued and cherished child of God. We celebrate the diversity among us, welcome the stranger, provide multiple worship options, invite those of other cultures, celebrate each generation, and touch those beyond our walls with love and the grace of Christ.

Youth

Our youth are a valuable resource holding keys to our present and future. We cherish our children and we seek to nurture, encourage, and empower them in the faith by providing consistency, unconditional love, friendship and a safe, secure refuge. We reach out to our youth, teach them, train them in the faith, and constantly involve and send them to serve in the Name of Christ.

Education

We value growth in Christ. We grow in relationship with Christ through spending time with him. We emphasize education for all ages, provide opportunities to grow spiritually, spend time in prayer, and offer multiple small group experiences that call for the gathering or two or more in Christ’s name.
